Back by popular demand! Jessie Oonark: A Retrospective is a 148-page art exhibition catalogue produced by the Winnipeg Art Gallery to support the travelling exhibition of Jessie Oonark's retrospective. Jessie Oonark (1906-1985) was prolific Inuk artist producing many prints and wall hangings from the mid 1950s through 1979 when a neurological condition curtailed her art career. Her distinctive style using bold, flat areas of colour is evocative of traditional Inuit sewing techniques. Elected as a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1975 and named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1984, her work is widely recognized and reproduced. The essays about her life and art are written by Marie Bouchard and Jean Blodgett. The catalogue contains 17 colour and 75 black and white photographs. The text is written in English and Inuktitut.
